“Being part of a chain of Value
for Oregon Agriculture & helping to add value for Oregon
Ag is a privilege and a responsibility.
When David and I arrived in 1973,
hardly anyone thought we’d survive for long. Looking
back on it all from the summer of 2008, the premium
quality produced by our growers has had as much to do
with our survival as anything.
Being closely connected and
dependent on our growers, especially in recent years,
has shaped us in significant ways. It’s taught us about
quality, trust and integrity and these form the
foundation of our diverse business today.
Being part of a chain of Value for
Oregon Agriculture and helping to add value for Oregon
Ag is a privilege and a responsibility. As consumers
shift and as imported goods challenge costs, it will be
more important than ever to get value for value
produced. We sell goods produced in Oregon all over the
country at significant premium (especially given huge
transportation costs) to regionally produced products.
Every time I talk to a grower I
feel somehow refreshed. I’ve learned that it’s far more
important to listen than to talk. Almost always I wind
up with a valuable lecture and instruction. |
