Oregon Beer Production

The State of Oregon boasts 82 brewing facilities owned by 60 different brewing companies. Of those, 29 are operating within the Portland city limits, which is more than any other city in the world.

In 2006, Oregon breweries produced approximately 796,000 barrels of beer. That is equal to 1.6 million kegs or 263 million bottles of beer. Of that total, 293,000 barrels were sold in Oregon, or about 10.6 percent of the total beer consumed in Oregon, which is the highest percentage of local craft beer consumption in the country.

Oregon breweries directly employ more than 4,200 Oregonians, many at family wage jobs.

Oregon breweries and the Oregon Brewers Festival account for tens of thousands of visitors and $1.5 million in tourism revenue each year. The total impact from the beer industry on Oregon’s economy is $2.2 billion.
